Tiphaine Lamolinerie is a French artist and watercolor teacher based in San Francisco, where she runs her own art studio. With a unique background that bridges the worlds of science and art, she was originally trained as an engineer in Life Sciences and spent over a decade working in sustainability and circularity, developing a deep understanding of systems and a strong awareness of climate change. In her watercolor work, Tiphaine finds harmony between organic creativity, spontaneity, and precision. The fluidity of watercolors mirrors the ever-evolving nature of environmental processes, while her vibrant color palette reflects the beauty and resilience of nature. She embraces spontaneity, allowing water and pigments to interact freely, yet she also applies a thoughtful, methodical approach to composition and technique—melding intuition with discipline.
As a passionate educator, Tiphaine shares her love for watercolor through workshops and classes, guiding students to explore their creativity while experiencing the meditative and liberating qualities of the medium. Whether working with children, adults, or corporate teams, she encourages a mindset of “letting go” and relaxation, helping students find inner joy in the spontaneous creative process of watercolor.
Through her art and teaching, Tiphaine creates a space where creativity and sustainability intersect, inviting others to cultivate both artistic expression and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Sardines 2023
“I liked painting this species of fish because unlike bigger fish burdened with toxins, sardines, painted in luminous silver hues, symbolize a rare purity in our polluted seas. It is a reminder that nature still holds pockets of resilience despite human impact.” – Tiphaine
